About

We're building the global Public Index of architecturally significant buildings.

There's a feeling you get sometimes standing in front of a building. Something about how it looks, or the way the light hits it, or just its sheer presence on the street.

There's a reason you get that feeling. An architect who fought for something unique. A site that came with challenging conditions, a community that fought for what they believed in. The building in front of you is the result of that, but that information is scattered across archives, council records, and the memories of people who've moved on.

Public Index brings it all together.

A self-guided audio tour through the building's design and intent, plus its history, the people involved, the controversies and events that shaped it, and the ability to ask anything you're curious about.

Founder

Sheree Hannah has spent close to two decades working across design experience, product and strategy, leading large projects across Australia.

She has spoken at Adobe Summit, Web Directions and UX Australia, taught at Academy Xi, and run workshops at Melbourne Design Week and The Outlook Design Conference.

Public Index came about from a love of architecture and a belief that when more people understand great design, they appreciate it, advocate for it and experience it fully.
